In 1998, the School of Built Environment (SBE) of Taylor's College Kuala Lumpur opened its doors as a tertiary education centre that offered programmes of study in the areas of Architectural Technology, Quantity Surveying and Building Technology and Management.

In February 2000, SBE students successfully transferred to The University of Melbourne to pursue degree studies in Architecture and Quantity Surveying.

Later in year 2004, the campus was relocated to Taylor's College Petaling Jaya. The new location at a business centre offers students the unique experience of studying in a business setting and realises the goal of positioning them one step closer to the professional world. SBE was renamed as the School of Architecture and Quantity Surveying(SAQS) to herald the programmes offered.

The School of Architecture, Building and Design (SABD), as it is known today marks a new commitment, that of offering educational instructions in more built environment courses to realise the Malaysian Government's vision of making Malaysia a developed nation by the year 2020.

The Centre for Modern Architecture Studies in Southeast Asia(MASSA) was officially launched on 20th August 2005. MASSA’s aim is to focus on the documentation of the intellectual and physical heritage of modern architecture in Southeast Asia with the aim to aid the process of planning settlements and the design of buildings which are more suited to the context and continuity of the cultures of Southeast Asia.

In year 2012, Taylor's School of Architecture, Building & Design (SABD) received official announcement that our Part 1 architecture degree is now accredited by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM)! We are the FIRST and ONLY private university to be recognised by LAM!
