SUITS is a belief that chances and risks simply amount to endless possibilities and opportunities, a night of dreams and ideas, aspirations and risks. This commemorates three years of highs and lows, aces and misses, an ascendance towards maturity and childhood. The photobooth backdrop installation of cards reflects the theme, with suits of cards folding and transforming in motion, providing a perfect backdrop for guests to pose for the cameras upon arrival.
Mr. Tony Liew, programme director of SABD, welcomed the guests with a short speech, followed by stunning performances from Eugene the Magician and Maria Loves Ozawa. The highlight for the night, apart from the scrumptious spread of buffet, would be the nostalgia video montage of SABD in the past year. The guests were brought down memory lane as shots of treasured moments and memorable events were played along with nostalgic background music. This was followed soon after with an acoustic performance by Liyana, from the former band Estrella. Liyana and her musicians rocked the ballroom, bringing the crowd onto their feet with their soul-touching jazz music.
After Liyana’s performance, lecturers were invited on stage to announce the lucky draw winners. Prizes include graphics books sponsored by Basheer Graphic Books Sdn. Bhd. Also, a grand prize of RM400 gift voucher for a holiday trip was sponsored by Holiday Tours & Travel Sdn. Bhd. The night ended with a themed beatbox performance by Dudebox and a performance by the band Roses For My Ruins. The finale struck an uproar on the dancefloor, closing the event with much success.
SUITS left an imprint upon all who attended. Needless to say, it was the epitome and perfect ending of year 2009 for SABD. The endless possibilities and opportunities, dreams and ideas, aspirations and risks, have simply amounted to its climatic ending. SUITS represent in whole, the journey through SABD, concluding the year with a night of grandeur and splendour. A round of applause to all graduates of 2009!
