ECO MONSTERS INDEED!

Just last week, the SABD and Computing School of Taylor's University College hosted a very green ECO bazaar.

It was from the 9th of August to the 11th, from a Monday to Wednesday. Many booths were open at the multipurpose hall in campus, each catering different products for sale. Some had vintage pre-loved clothes, jewellery, polaroid cameras, handmade notebooks and bags and our very own SABD booth had buttons and keychains made by the council members.

The aim of the bazaar was to create an awareness among the students of Taylor's to go green and also to help  the children in Bario, Sarawak by contributing to a charity project that is raising funds to build those kids a hostel so that they won't have to walk 10km to school everyday!

It was a successful event and we hope you guys realize that going green is AWESOME!

Morib baby!

On the 31st of July, the Bachelor of Science (Architecture) July 2010 Intake went to Morib for their group orientation. It was a nice sunny morning at Morib as 37 newbies, 10 SABD committee members and 6 lecturers broke the ice right on the sea shore.

After a brief introduction, the students were divided into two groups for the ice breaking session. It was pretty hilarious to see them tangled up with each other. Next, the students were divided into 6 groups and were given the task of designing a space for two. They had to present their work and it was followed by a 'water test' on the built shelter.

The day ended with kite flying, Frisbees being thrown and some football. All exhausted but it was worth it!

IT REALLY WAS WORTH IT!

Taylor's Eco Bazaar!

Hey all archeeteks,

As to celebrate the returning of senior students and welcoming of new students, we are running a campaign, nicknamed ECO Taylor's Bazaar.

Befitting to the name given, it is our vision to transform people's mindset and to motivate them to practice sustainability in all facets of their life. What better than to start at an institutional environment where business is used as an ethical medium to propagate ideas of green living.

We sincerely hope that you would be able to assist us in spreading this good deed in your blog and if possible be able to post the advert too.

Details of event:-
Location : Taylor's Univesity College
Taylor's Lakeside Campus
No. 1 Jalan Taylor's, 47500 Subang Jaya
Selangor Darul Ehsan
Date : 9th - 11th August 2010
Time : 10am - 5pm (each day)
Parking : FREE
Entrance : FREE

In lieu to the core purpose of this event that coins around the word ECO, therefore, the products that you will be selling MUST be of ECO friendly, i.e. REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE.

Apart from creating a society who will give us a greener tomorrow, the money will be absorbed into a charity project i.e. to build a hostel for the under-privileged kids in Bario Sarawak as they too are part of our Malaysian cultural ECO-system. With this hostel, the kids as young as 6 years old will not have to walk at least 10km each week day just to get to their school.
