The Green Future Starts with Green Thinking

Most applications of green technology in our architecture today is trivial if not an ad-hoc design to an existing architectural agenda. This phenomenon can be traced back to the lack of knowledge, or even the lack of conviction to design green. We believe that the use of this faux facade of green technology to stand in for moral integrity in design is the result of very syncopated thought processes that course through our architectural paradigm.

With that in mind, we cast this booth with its allegory as a reminer of what our focus should be in the application of green tech, a reminder that we have to look into ourselves and find our true calling to being green. We hope that this tome will encapsulate the importance of the mind (brain) as the precursor to designing and building with green technology.

The booth is presented as a white cube, stark against the background, with silvers of light spilling out from within its womb, like a glowing alien object. As one approaches the booth, he/ she now realizes that it is made of semi permeable material, a facade of elastic that allows the hand and the head to slip through the ephemeral skin of white and peek into the exhibited models within it. The insides are designed like neurons and each of the neurons hold a student's model delicately within its supple encasement. As one interacts with the membranous exterior, he/ she chances upon an opening, a slit where indications that something had pried it open. Intrigued, the viewer steps into the heart of the brain and experiences the sensation of being enveloped by light and delicate floating objects, almost as if an invocation has caused the viewer to be transported into an alternate, almost surreal awareness.

Why? A formal dinner for all of SABD to gather for the celebration of the end of another year and semester. Also, a graduation night for the graduating class of 2009.
Where? V ictorian Ballroom, Holiday Villa Resort, Subang Jaya.
When? 11.12.09 (Friday), 7pm till late. Mark your calenders!
Who? YOU! This is no small thing; all of SABD will be there, including your lecturers!

Suits?? What Suits? Why Suits?
What do you think of when we say the word "Suits"? An outfit? A set in a pack of cards? Basically, it's all up to your interpretation! SABD hasn't organized an event like this for a while. So yes, what happens on the night of SUITS? Everything changes!


Can I invite outsiders (people who are not from SABD) to the dinner?
Priority will be given to the SABD students, but YES. Bring your dates!


Do I get a discount?
If you purchase a table (seating 10 people) by the 14th of November, the table price will only be RM900 (original price RM1000), summing down to RM90 per head.


What do I need to wear?
Strictly formal, as the term "Formal Night" suggests. =)


What is for dinner?
A buffet style banquet with all you can eat food!

SABD Activity Week & PAM Annual Architecture Student Exhibition

The SABD Annual Activity Week 2009 Exhibition will showcase our student’s recent adventure to the architectural wonders of Rome, Japan and Nepal translated into photography, essay, painting and videography. Also on display are works of students from a Batik painting workshop and visits to Cameron Highland’s natural wonders that was held during the activity week.

PAM Annual Architecture Student Exhibition 2009 will see SABD students constructing their Booth Design to display their studio works. Our students will also be participating in a Design Competition on Saturday 7^th Nov 09. New to this year event is student’s performance where Ms.Sujata have kindly organized and led our Taylor’s Symphonic Band to perform on Saturday 7th Nov 09 from 2.00 pm – 10.00 pm.

SABD Halloween Spookfest '09

SABD Halloween Spookfest '09 was indeed a blast!!

Best Dress competition
5 were selected from each category and each were interviewed by Jason, our host for this event! After that, they all had to dance ! haha!

(Male category) was between the JOKER, SPARTAN twins!, GORILLA boy, captain JACK SPARROW and PHANTOM of the Opera!!
Based on cheers from everyone, the Joker won best dressed! cool!!

(Female category) was between CATWOMAN, blardy NURSE, Corpse's BRIDE, GEISHA, and last but not least, DRACULA!!
Catwoman won!

Did I missed out anything? OH! the Lecturer's Category! Guess what, Mr Kid (Japanese ghost), Ms Sophie (Pontianak!) and Mr Hong (kungfu hero?xD) dressed up too!!
They almost gave us a shock of our lives when they came into class that morning! xD They had to dance too! In fact, instead of lecturing they might want to consider being part time entertainers! haha!
and the winner goes to......Ms. Sophie!

Trick 'o' Treat was successful. Everyone got tons of candies! Fake blood were everywhere. Lots of crazy poses and pictures were taken. Everyone went wild that afternoon!
