HALLOWEEN '08

It would be fairly amusing to re-tell the story of what happened on that day when students from other schools in TCPJ saw -to name a few -dark knight, The Joker(s), witches, wizards, Cleopatra going around college and into classes looking as they did. Obviously, you don't get to see this everyday. People stopped and stared, whispered, laughed and curiously wondered if we had lost our minds, but we, the organising team sincerely take our hats off to these bold design students, we hope you guys had fun, because we definitely had fun watching!

We would like to thank everyone who participated in joining the rushed event. Here are the pictures as promised! Go figure.

just a thought

this may be a little unconventional for an official blog -something i wouldn't have done in a different circumstance, let's get that one straight. but while i take this to be somewhat inappropriate and rather personal, i've decided some things needed a general consensus to be executed. sure, seeing that semester is about to wrap up for the year, i doubt i could pull some last minute meetings with my team, let alone the common students to discuss matters regarding facility abuse, et cetera, et cetera. and when this entertaining, yet aggravating show of one person's ludiscrous behaviour rendered this blog into a non-constructive medium of shared thoughts (phew!), i felt and knew this was a chance to hear what everybody would have to say. in short, something needed to be done, and quick.

don't get me wrong, my intention is not to feed the child's ego by posting this up, but i've been thinking; assuming he is among us, allow me to take him to be as just another unsatisfied, amusingly enraged taylor's student lashing out at everyone, particularly me (you flatter me too much) over work stress. he's raising an issue -shallow racial and religion insults aside (something i've come across one too many times) -and so we aim to solve. therefore, let's focus on the root of the problem(s):

digilab facility abuse:
on one end:

- countless students've complained the installed games in digilab's desktops are a terrible nuisance, especially when coupled with boisterous gamers who come over to play while they want to focus on their work
- the hogging of desktops for game-playing reduces the amount of available computers for students who come to work
- apparently, these gamers are rude, disrespectful and lack the sensitivity to think of the larger population of students who need the computers -we don't all have this precious facility at home, you know?
- straight from mr patrick kee: no games are allowed to be installed in any of the computers and should be immediately removed, period.

but, on the other end:

- work can be kinda crazy, we all need some kind of escape -perhaps we should get tv?
- negotiations are an option -setting up rules, the freedom to play at certain hours and yet maintain sensitivity towards the ones needy of computers for working
- game playing is allowed provided respect towards the rest of digilab population is maintained by behaving less like monkeys.

feel free to cast your vote at the poll at the sidebar, argue constructively, and have your say. majority wins, and we'll work it out accordingly.

thank you, goodluck for finals, happy coming holidays and cheers.

Let's do this!

Hey peeps!

It's 1 week before week 14. Your mind is filled with assignments and submission dates, and you start saying goodbye to your bed. Yet, if you dare look at the calendar, you'll find that this Friday is the Halloween. For years, Halloween's been a super ordinary day of us rushing for classes, but this year, SABD Student Society has come up with an idea to do something fun, something that we hope would light up your day. We've decided to..

DO: dress up, put on anything interesting, in Halloween spirit. i.e.: wear black, red. fake fangs. blood.
WHEN: 30th* October, all day long
WHO: all SABD students

So, start telling your friends, so that we all can be in this together, including the lecturers. Plus, on that day, Taylor's Photography Club members will be going around and taking pictures of you. So, make sure you're all wrapped up for the day, in the Halloween spirit. Put away those week-14-is-coming-and-i'm-dead faces, and celebrate. Have fun!

p/s: the dressing up is done on a thursday due to most sabd-ians not having classes on friday.

As for now, let us just say we're eager and very much looking forward to serving you better!

PAM Camp 2008

PAM Camp 2008
8th June 2008 - 13th June 2008
USM, Penang, Malaysia.
Theme: Pirate of The Pearl Island

Seriously, if you get a chance, you must participate in this PAM camp. For participants, it will be like a condensed studio classes, in few days time, and even before going to the camp.
For observants, like the tag created, supposed to be bored. (Seriously freaking boring!)
Hint for the coming batch of observants: Just join the schedule for participants.
Overall, it was pretty fun. It is a great chance one gets to work with seniors, and outsiders, to learn and share.

"Architects need to know something of everything."
This time I got to admit this, and share with all the members, about how talented these people are, not only about buildings, but about posing, and everything in front of the camera.

Just let the photos tell the tales.
The very first thing after arriving was to set up our so-cool-designed-booth to show off students' works to the participating universities and colleges.

Below are some exhibited works by other universities/colleges:

Torch showing off during ice breaking session:

Performances:

It's all about the pirate, Jaki Suparno, travelled pass time.

Well, I don't mind of get killed by this Rome army. XD

The duo that helped us to win the 2nd prize for fashion design. Cool, right?

and some shots of others':

Back stage preparation for our Jaki Suparno vs Cleopatra....Basically, we were posing for cameras...

Of course, this camp can't be without some speakers. The organizer was good, they even prepare some performance in the early morning, to wake us up, before the talk.
The invited guests

Ar. Jimmy Lim, with the belt of giant

The pirate fever that helped them keep awake during the talks.

Our mobility structure:
Ms. Shereen in action

These 2 pics above tell you how bored the observants were!

Although the main focus is the camp, but one just can't leave Penang without trying their hawker food. Our expression said it all.

Believe it or not? We still manage to catch a movie on one of the night, in Queensbay Mall!
When comes to shopping, we guys are kind of "noob"

Parts of Collections of Heritage Tracking:
They are good instant sketchers....Cool!

Finally, we came to the Batu Feringgi! A lot of potential posers found.
Finally the observants are not bored anymore! Build the raft and sail aye!

Selling our newly design T-shirt

Talented posers:
Who said photographer can't be a poser?

"Look at my hair~~"

Too much of Counter Strike

Want to know what you will learn from this kind of camp?
